Quarter 3, Week 8 - Verbals

This week our topic is all about Verbals. What is Verbals? It is a word derived from a verb that functions in a sentence as a noun or modifier rather than as a verb. Infinitive and gerunds are also included in verbal. Verbal have three different kinds. One of them is Gerund, What is a gerund? It is a verbal that ends with -ing that functions as nouns. Next is Infinitives, What is Infinitives? this is a verbal that functions as a noun, adjective, or adverb, It is often preceded by the particle "To". Lastly, What is Participles? It is a verb that is used as an adjective, It can also be used as a past participle or a present participle. there are also following tests and assessments to be answered so we can apply the learnings we earned. there are also practices held on the given module.

Quarter 3, Week 7 - Tone, Mood, Technique, and Purpose

This week we discussed Tone, Mood, Technique, and Purpose. In this discussion, we had some visitors and observers. We are asked about our insight into our topics. So we start at the tone, What is tone? tone simply the writer's attitude towards a subject, characters, or audience. Examples of tone are; Bitter, accusatory, critical, optimistic, sincere, etc. While Mood is what a reader feels while reading the story or a scene. What is Technique? It is the style that authors used in conveying their messages in a manner that effective and meaningful to their readers. In writing, there are four types of writing techniques; Descriptive Writing, Narrative Writing, Persuasive Writing, and Expository writing. Next, is Purpose, What is Purpose? it is simply the main reason for writing. There are three basic purposes for writing it; a)To inform, b)To persuade, and c)To entertain. Quarter 3, Week 6 - Literary Devices

For this week we just discussed Literary Devices. Before we discussed we had our Flag Ceremony since its Monday. What is Literary Device? It is a tool used by writers to hint at larger themes, ideas, and meaning in a story or piece of writing. Literary devices have many types. One of Literary devices used are Simile and metaphor, these two are the most used literary devices, It refers to the drawing of comparison between the two unrelated and dissimilar things, people, beings, places, and concepts. We discussed 8 literary devices but it can be counted as 9 when we separate simile and metaphor. Other literary devices are; foreshadowing, flashback, symbolism, rhyme, oxymoron, repetition, and rhetorical questions. We also are asked to give some examples. At the end of our discussion, we had some assessments and tests. We also have some announcements about some of my teachers' concerns.

Quarter 3, Week 5 – Judging Validity of Evidence

This week our topic is all about Judging the validity of Evidence. Before we proceed to our topic our teacher gave us a spelling quiz to help us grow our vocabulary. In the spelling, we spelled words like; cliche, liaison, minuscule, etc. After our spelling activity, we had our Anglo-American Literature Icon, Stephenie Meyer. Stephenie Meyer is an American Novelist and a film producer, she is known for writing the famous vampire romance series Twilight. Some of Stephenie Meyer's books are New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, etc. We also have our Figure of Speech in focus. This week the figure of speech in focus is Paradox. What is Paradox? It is a figure of speech that is a seemingly absurd or self-contradictory statement that when investigated or explained may prove to be well-founded or true. One example sentence of a Paradox is Save money by spending it. Our activity is making a blog as a performance task.

Quarter -3, Week 4 - Relevance and Truthfulness of Ideas

This week our topic is all about the Relevance and Truthfulness of Ideas. In this topic, we learned the form of information; the Dis-Information, Mis-information, and the mal-Information. Our teacher also shares a new Anglo-American Literature icon, Mr. William Shakespeare. Mr.William Shakespeare was an English playwright, poet, and actor. Mr. Shakespeare is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's greatest dramatist. He is often called "England's national poet" and "the Bard of Aron" or Simply "the Bard". We also have our figure of speech focus on Epistrophe. What is Epistrophe? It is a figure of speech showing the repetition of words or phrases at the end of a clause or sentence. Epistrophe is also called Epiphora. We also had spelling bee words like presage, concede, fiery, caste, etc.

Quarter 3 - Week 3 - Sensory Imagery

This week we learned about Sensory Imagery. What is Sensory Images? It is the representation of languages through senses or experience using true human senses. What imaginary? it is a noun that means symbolism, representation, mental images. We learned about the five types of Sensory Imagery. The five types of Sensory Imagery are; Visual Imagery, Auditory Imagery, Tactile Imagery, Olfactory Imagery, and Gustatory Imagery. Our teacher introduce us to a new Anglo-American Literature Icon Robert Browning. Robert Browning was an English poet and playwright whose dramatic monologues put him high among the Victorian poets. Some of his works are; "The Pied Piper of Hamelin", "Men and Women", "The Ring and the Book", etc. We also review our past lesson Making Opinions. We do some activities like assessments, excercises. This week our topic is quite easy and also our task like identifying what sensory imagery is being used. Performance Task:

Quarter 3, Week 2 – Bias and Prejudice

This week we discussed about Bias and Prejudice. We join the meeting with duhat so our teacher can explain our topic more clear. We have our Spelling bee or Spelling Quiz, we learned the meaning of some words and its spelling like; awful, mirage, meerkat, asylum, etc. We also have our Anglo- American Literature Icon Nicholas Charles Sparks. I know not everyone knows who he is, Nicholas Charles Sparks is an American novelist, screenwriter, and a philanthropist. Mr.Nicholas have published 22 novels and a 2 non-fiction books, that have been in a New York Time's Best sellers. Some of Mr.Nicholas books are A walk to remember, Dear John, The last song, message in a Bot, The notebook, etc. Before we start our discussion our teacher present a video where we observe the emotions of mothers and the children there, which is connected to the topic were going to start.
